ABOUT THE REVIEWS

A rating doesn’t explain what went wrong.

About RipperFeeds

Two restaurants can have the same rating for very different reasons. At one, people might complain about the wait. At the other, it might be the portion sizes. Reading those complaints can help you decide which place would suit your plans.

We group the 1–3-star reviews we’ve collected by topic. You can read the excerpts, follow links to the original reviews, and filter out restaurants where particular complaints come up.

We only cover the reviews we’ve collected, and restaurants can change. A place may stay in your results because we don’t have enough information about it yet.

Common questions

How do the complaint filters work?

Choose an issue under “Criticisms to avoid”, then set a percentage. For example, choosing slow service at 25% hides restaurants where at least a quarter of the analysed 1–3-star reviews mention slow service. You can also filter by area, cuisine and budget.

What does the critical-review score mean?

It summarises the 1–3-star reviews we’ve collected, adjusted for your priorities. A higher score means the complaints have less weight in our calculation. It isn’t an overall restaurant rating; Google’s rating is shown separately. Changing your priorities changes the score. Use the complaint filters to hide places from your results.

Do I need an account?

You can browse, set your priorities and compare restaurants without signing in. Use your Google account to save places, suggest a missing restaurant or leave a comment. Saved places are available on any device when you sign in with the same account. Your priorities and comparisons stay in this browser.

Should one bad review put me off?

It depends on what happened and how much it matters to you. Check when the review was written and whether other diners describe the same problem. Recent reviews and the restaurant’s own information may give you a different picture.
